  • Micro-Social-Networking Platform Hibe Launches Facebook App

    Micro-social-networking platform Hibe announced the launch of its website and release of its Facebook application, which is aimed at allowing users to build micro social networks on top of existing platforms, such as Facebook, where they can discuss single topics of interest. Hibe enables users to engage in relevant conversations via a safe, secure platform. Users must currently be Facebook users in order to launch micro-social networks on Hibe. Members can upload text, photos, and videos, as well as comment and share group experiences.

In the latest such campaign, HTC tapped agency Omnicom and ad tech specialist Aerva to create an 11-week-long campaign, centered on New York’s Times Square, to promote the new HTC One smartphone over the holidays.

  • FlowPlay Launches Social Gaming Platform as B2B Solution

    Social casino studio FlowPlay has launched its back-end development technology as a B2B solution for social games developers, with Joju Games the first to launch a product on the platform. The FlowPlay platform, which powers the Vegas World app, gives developers access to the infrastructure, analytics and monetisation tools designed to help them accelerate development cycles, and drive revenue from social casino games across all channels.

  • New York State Police to Use Social Media to Locate Wanted Individuals

    Gov. Cuomo announced that the New York State Police will begin using social media to catch wanted individuals across the state. State police will launch “Warrant Wednesday” on the Division’s Facebook page asking for the public’s help to track down people who have warrants out for their arrest. State police began implementing the new statewide initiative on Wednesday, Feb. 5. Each Wednesday, wanted posters will be added to the NYSP Facebook page featuring posters of wanted persons with arrest or bench warrants from across the state. Previous wanted postings on the state police Facebook page along with the public’s assistance have led to the identification and arrest of several individuals.

  • HackerRank Launches CodePair To Improve Technical Interviews

    HackerRank is a social platform for fun coding challenges that launched at TechCrunch SF Disrupt in 2012. It grew out of Interviewstreet, a technical recruiting platform that’s being used by companies like Evernote and Amazon to screen potential hires. The company is combining these two brands under the HackerRank label. HackerRank will continue to operate as usual and Interviewstreet will become HackerRankX, a white label version of the HackerRank platform.
